i hate to be a jerk but i know why else your podcasts aren't working in iTunes! you have to add a tag in each post called 'enclosure.' it'll look something like this -- see if you can follow the pattern.
<enclosure enclosure url=" ** link to the mp3 ** " length=" ** file size like in bytes ** " type="audio/mpeg" />
if you actually take the time to put these into the posts then the podcast will work in your iTunes and everyone with an iTunes will be able to drop the Feedburner in and bring you everywhere on their iPods!
And no offense but I don't wanna listen to matthew good for a little over an hour while sitting at my computer. i'd rather be on the road, ya know?
Tony, let me know if you have bandwidth problems because I think in the long run you will considering how popular your blog already is.
And to answer your previous question about why not do a regular save-as, lots of podcast listeners (most) prefer to subscribe and especially with the new itunes support for podcasting, they want to be subscribed through itunes.
thanks for the offer Mark. but you flatter me, as my blog's popularity is dwarfed by Matt's. it's his traffic that will kill me if we do as we plan which is podcast on a weekly basis. but i have some alternate plans to that.
as for iTunes, several days ago i submitted this site to iTunes so that people could subscribe through them, but they are still deciding, apparently, if i will be approved.
so stay tuned because i agree with you the beauty of podcasting is to be able to simply subscribe to the feed and have it delivered.
that has always been the plan here which is why i dont really have any links here or pictures. if i planned on people actually visiting here i would have made it more homey.
If you're worried about overloading your server or having all your bandwidth eaten try saving it at a lower bitrate (like 32kbs or 24kbs). Right now it seems to be at 128kbs and it may be too high for a mono voice recording.
Also, do you mind if we mirror your podcast on our site?
Just a quick question, so as of right now i can't sign up for this podcast through itunes on to my ipod??? cause i was looking for a long while and i can't figure technology out
1. great tips about mixing it down in bitrate gracias!
2. im not cool. im lucky. i have no idea how matt found me or why he chose to talk with me in the first place. im a far bigger fan of his blog than i am of his music, and who knows, maybe thats why he felt comfortable with me. but we really get along and i think that comes out in this podcast.
3. yes anonymous you can listen to podcasts without the use of iTunes, either download the mp3 and play it through your favorite MP3 program on your computer, or download it > save it > and move it over to your iPod.
4. perhaps one reason iTunes hasnt accepted this podcast blog yet is because i havent tagged the mp3s properly, so thanks again Jason. im doing that now.

i'd suggest 32. or even 64. 64bps provides a good quality even in stereo, but if you're going mono, yeah. 32.
i think it's awesome that you're gonna interview matthew good EVERY WEEK for the podcast. i wish i were that cool.
